The Spalding & District Amateur Radio Society (SDARS) is a vibrant, progressive and well established society. We draw our members from Spalding and the surrounding area and it is pleasing that some members still remain when they move district and country. The membership is presently just over 30.
We currently meet on Friday evenings and we are equipped for operation on HF and actively encourage members to participate. We can also draw upon a wide range of experienced amateurs to assist in almost every aspect of the hobby.
The club has always run classes for the Radio Amateurs Examination and Morse, we are of the opinion that through this route the hobby will continue to thrive, expand and push forward the boundaries of communication. SDARS has been successful in getting more than 70 people through their exams. Some people have decided to stick with the Foundation licence and some have progressed through their Intermediate licence and then taken the Advanced exam to achieve their Full licence.
The premier event in the club’s calendar is the annual rally usually held on the first Sunday of June each year. This is a very popular rally attracting about 400 people each year.
So if you live in, or near to South Lincolnshire or even just passing through and would like to “have a look at” amateur radio, then feel free to contact us and arrange to pop along on a Friday night to say hello, we usually have coffee and biscuits available as well!
