Interested in Obtaining an Amateur Licence?

Whether you are looking to join Amateur Radio with the entry level licence (Foundation), or want to work your way further up the scale to an Intermediate or Advanced (Full) Licence, then SDARS can help you achieve the licence you want.

The three courses are tutored by John Hill, G4NBR. John Has a proven track record and has been teaching since 1978, teaching the "old" City and Guilds, and now the RSGB three tier system.

The courses are run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings: we try to make Monday foundation night, Tuesday Intermediate and Wednesday for the advanced licence.

A flexible approach is designed to help as many people as possible. Course duration will vary on candidate abilities, and full help is given to people of ALL abilities. Books and training materials are supplied as necessary and are the property of the candidate to take home at the end of the course.

We try to keep the class sizes to a max of 6 people. This gives a relaxed atmosphere and aids the learning process. However, individual needs can be catered for.

The Foundation and Intermediate exams are held on demand and the advanced licence exam dates are set by the RSGB. The foundation course is usually approximately 6 weeks, Intermediate 8 weeks and the Advanced takes 12 – 24 weeks.

Our clubhouse is a registered centre with the RSGB. We also have full disabled access.

Please don’t be worried about the complexity of the exams. We have all the time to teach you. We have the patience as well. If the capability is within you we can help you release it.
